Equipment Testing – Week 3

This week I’ve started to review the footage Callan, Dom and I recorded last Wednesday. After looking back at it, it is still very clear I need to improve when using the steadicam. Some of my shots are still way too unstable and I always lose track of the subject. Although there are some really good shots, some with the steadicam but most with the slider.using steadicam.jpgThis is me using the steadicam. As you can see I’ve tried to replicate my stance to one of the tutorial videos I linked in a separate blog post. I made sure I bent my knees and lightly held the stem with my index finger, middle finger and thumb, I did this to make the movement smooth.

This is me getting a shot with the slider. My shots with the sliders have improved a lot. Mainly because I’ve been paying more attention to how much longer I have left on the tracks, making sure I don’t hit the end.

This is the final video. I’m fairly happy with the final video. 2
