My Strange Grandfather – 3rd blog

door squeak getting louder.pngWhen making the sound effects for the window latch, I used the squeaky door in the bathroom. When I got the sound effects into premiere pro and tried matching them up with the latch moving in the wind, I realised that it wasn’t really quick enough, so I changed the speed of the cli[ to 300%. This matched up well. I also reversed the clip for when the latch swings the other way to make it sound more realistic.reversed door squeak.png To make the the sound fit the camera angle, I made the noise gradually get louder at the the start as the camera angle moves its focus from the little girl to the window.

I finally lowered the volume of the tracks so they were drowning out the rest of the sound effects. This is what it looks like in the premiere pro timeline.latch squeaks.png

This is great Matthew — I’d like to see loads more of this sort of work in future projects. The combination of screenshots and explanation makes for excellent evidence of your process, and that’s what I want to be reading in your FMP!
